Professor Jerry John Kponyo is a leading Ghanaian academic and technology expert specializing in artificial intelligence, intelligent systems, and IoT. He is the Director of the Office of Grants and Research at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), where he has previously served as Dean of the Faculty of Electrical and Computer Engineering and Head of the Department of Electrical Engineering.
He is the Scientific Director of the Responsible Artificial Intelligence Lab (RAIL) and a co-founder of the Responsible AI Network (RAIN) Africa, advancing ethical and impactful AI development across the continent. His research spans AI-driven systems, smart mobility, and distributed networks, with over 80 peer-reviewed publications.
Professor Kponyo also leads major international initiatives, including the KNUST Engineering Education Project (KEEP) and AI for Sustainable Development (AI4SD), positioning him at the forefront of Africa’s digital transformation agenda.
